Core Aeration

Core Aeration, when done correctly with proper irrigation and fertilization schedule that is customized based on a soil test is the best way that you can improve the overall look of your lawn. The first and most important factor that determines the success of aeration is when the service is performed. Early Spring is the best time to aerate your bermuda lawn. This timing allows your lawn to get more water, air, and nutrients to it's roots just before the growing season.

When Should My Lawn Be Aerated?

Timing is the most crucial element to a successful lawn aeration. Early Spring is the best time to aerate your lawn, as the the bermuda or zoysia grass is coming out of dormancy.

As far as frequency, it would be ideal to aerate every year and if this is not possible for you, then every other year, or as frequent as you possibly can.

Not only does aeration loosen the soil so that the existing turf can take in nutrients, air, and water more efficiently, and grow their roots deeper into the soil, it also helps with compaction of the soil and allows the turf to become more dense which helps suppress weeds.

What Has To Be Done To Prepare For Service?

To prepare for your core aeration service we need a few things done in order to perform the service.

First is if you have an irrigation system all of the inground valve boxes and sprinkler heads need to be marked with flags.

Second is if you have an electronic pet containment fence that is buried it also needs to be marked.

Last if there are any shallow buried utility lines that you are aware of those would need to be marked too.

It is important to be very thorough in this process as our core aeration machine punches plugs in the soil up to 3" deep.

What Happens To All The Plugs Of Grass In The Yard?
When core aeration is performed you will be left with lots (and I mean lots) of little plugs of dirt and grass all over the yard. This is expected and intentional. These are the plugs that were removed from your lawn and will break down and will disappear in a short amount of time. If you want to speed this process up you can mow your lawn and water it after mowing. But that isn't necessary as mother nature will take care of it soon enough.

Protecting Your Family & Pets

Pet & People Safe Once Dry

We ask that you and your pets remain indoors while we are treating the property and stay off the lawn until our application is dry (typically 2 hours or less). This minimizes exposure to pesticides and herbicides and prevents residues from being tracked into homes.
